Bacteriorhodopsin
This part consists of the Pex3-N-Terminal-Peroxisomal-membrane-anchor from S. cerevisiae fused to the N-terminus of the protein Bacteriorhodopsin. Bacteriorhodopsin is a proton pump from the organism Halobacterium salinarum and we used this part trying to acidify the peroxisomal lumen. The construct was designed to integrate the Bacteriorhodopsin via the Pex3-anchor into the peroxisomal membrane. The fusion protein is 768bp long, with the Pex3 anchor donating the first 48bp and Bacteriorhodopsin the later 720bp.
